RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Following a close fought 2-3 loss in five sets on the road to conference opponent Henderson State, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team looks to knock off Harding, the no. 1 team in the Great American Conference, on their own home court.
So far this season, the Bisons are 12-1 overall and own a 2-0 record against GAC opponents. In their last match, they picked up a 3-1 win on the road over Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia. Leading the offense for Harding is Kelli McKinnon with 125 kills on the year. Following her is Logan Smith with 122 kills and Skyler McKinnon with 113. Pacing the Bisons offense is Sarah Morehead with 437 total assists with a 10.93 per set average. In terms of service aces, Emma Winiger leads the team with 22. Grecia Soriano and Libby Hinton have also added to the mix witih 19 and 18 aces, respectively.
On defense, Winiger leads the pack with 181 digs on a 4.21 per set average. Soriano and Morehead both have picked up 115 total digs on the year as well. In front of the net is McKinnon averaging 1.10 blocks per set while collecting 45 total on the season. Following McKinnon is Hinton with 33 blocks.
Moving to the Golden Suns,
Maddi Siedenburg leads the offensive attack with 98 total kills, on a 2.72 kills per set average. Following Siedenburg is
Lydia Hale with a 2.08 kills per set average, while racking up 79f total kills on the season thus far.
Brianna Merkel and
Heather Thomas have also contributed on the attack with 73 kills each. Pacing the offense is Merkel with 207 assists, while averaging 5.59 assists per set.
Gracie Palmer averages 2.76 assists per set and has set set up 127 total assists. In terms of service aces,
Jamie Myrick leads the team with 18, while Palmer and
Megan Solberg follow with 16 each.
Anchoring the Golden Suns on defense is Solberg with 204 digs on the year and is averaging 4.34 digs per set. Merkel has also added plenty of help on defense with 114 total digs on a 3.08 dig per set average. Holding down the front of the net for the Golden Suns is Thomas with six solo blocks and 29Â assisted blocks and is averaging 0.74 blocks per set. Following behind Thomas at the front of the net is Hale with 23 total blocks and
Zoe Lott with 14.
The match against Harding will take place on Thursday on Searcy and is set for a 6 p.m. first serve.
