RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Fresh off a three-match home stand in which they went 2-1 and collected their first Great American Conference win over Southern Arkansas, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team now begins a three-match conference road trip that will start against Henderson State in Arkadelphia on Tuesday. Currently, the Golden Suns are 3-9 overall and remain 1-0 in GAC play.
The Reddies sit at 6-7 overall and are 0-1 against GAC opponents falling to Harding 0-3. In their last match, Henderson State fell to Union (Tenn.) 0-3 on the road. Individually, Christiane Uzoh leads the offense for the Reddies with 113 kills, while averaging 2.57 per set on the season. She is followed by Aleah Stogner with 86 kills and Andrea Roland with 75. Uzoh also posts the best hitting percentage among the three getting .188 of her kills to go down. Pacing the Reddie offense is Madison Hatt with 214 assists on a 4.86 assist per set average on the year. Skylar Fernandez also contributes in assists averaging 3.41 per set and setting up 133 total assists. In terms of service aces, Fernandez leads the team with 10 and is followed by Dani Dagley with eight.
For the Henderson State defense, Trinity Sharp heads up the pack with 172 total digs with a 3.74 digs per set average. Sharp is followed by Dagley with a 3.00 dig per set average and 138 total on the season. At the front of the net, Kaitlyn Sykes leads the blocking effort with 12 solo blocks and 22 assisted for 34 total blocks. Uzoh has also contributed with 9 solo blocks and 20 blocks assisted for 29 total.
Moving to the Golden Suns,
Maddi Siedenburg leads the offensive attack with 98 total kills, on a 2.72 kills per set average. Following Siedenburg is
Lydia Hale with a 2.03 kills per set average, while racking up 67 total kills on the season thus far.
Brianna Merkel and
Heather Thomas have also contributed on the attack with 65 and 63 kills, respectively. Pacing the offense is Merkel with 179 assists, while averaging 5.59 assists per set.
Gracie Palmer averages 2.83 assists per set and has set set up 116 total assists. In terms of service aces,
Jamie Myrick leads the team with 18, while Palmer follows with 15 and Merkel with 13.
Anchoring the Golden Suns on defense is
Megan Solberg with 185 digs on the year and is averaging 4.40 digs per set. Myrick has also added plenty of help on defense with 103 total digs on a 2.51 dig per set average. Holding down the front of the net for the Golden Suns is Thomas with five solo blocks and 27 assisted blocks and is averaging 0.76 blocks per set. Following behind Thomas at the front of the net is Hale with 18 total blocks and
Zoe Lott with 14.
