RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Following their opening weekend at the Oklahoma Christian Tournament, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team looks to bounce back with a matchup against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on the road.
So far this season, the Lions are 0-2 dropping two games to Southeast Missouri State and Jackson State this past weekend. Leading the offensive attack for the Lions is Zykia Jones with 21 kills. Following Jones is Fernanda Spengler with 12. Pacing the Arkansas-Pine Bluff offense is Nikole Akamine with 29 assists, while Anaiah Jordan has 19.Â
Leading the Lions on the defensive side is Breana August with 25 digs. Behind August is Jones with 12 digs on the year. Leading the team in blocks is Laila Fortson with six total and is followed by Spengler with five blocks.
The Golden Suns are 9-0 all-time against the Lions and picked up a nice 3-0 sweep in their last matchup nearly eight years ago on October 25, 2014.
Following a tough opening weekend against some competitive opponents, Tech looks to get back on their feet with a solid win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Leading the way on the offensive attack for the Golden Suns is
Maddi Siedenburg with 31 total kills. Following Siedenburg is
Heather Thomas with 28 kills and
Lydia Hale with 27. Pacing the offense for Arkansas Tech is
Gracie Palmer with 64 total assists so far this season. In terms of aces,
Jamie Myrick and Palmer lead the way with 9 and 7 respectively.
Anchoring the Golden Suns on defense is
Megan Solberg with 61 total digs on the year. Following behind Solberg is Myrick with 40 digs and Palmer with 29. Holding down the front of the net is Thomas with a team leading 14 blocks this season. Thomas is followed by Hale with 10 and
Zoe Lott with 9.
The match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff will take place in Pine Bluff and is set for a 6 p.m. first serve on Monday evening.
