RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Riding hot off another perfect weekend following their 3-0 sweep against Southwestern Oklahoma State on the road, the Arkansas Tech softball team faces their final road contest of the regular season against Oklahoma Christian. The Golden Suns will take on the Eagles in Oklahoma City for a mid-week non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. that afternoon with the second game to follow shortly after the conclusion of the first.


SCOUTING THE EAGLES

Entering the weekend, Oklahoma Christian is 34-8 overall with a 20-4 record in conference play in the Lone Star Conference and are coming off a mid-week doubleheader sweep against Northwestern Oklahoma State.

As a team, the Eagles are hitting .343 so far this season (393-for-1145) with 281 runs scored, 75 doubles, 31 triples and 16 homeruns. Coming into the series, the Eagles have nine hitters with at least 75 at-bats hitting .300 or better and are led by Aaliyah Brown with a .470 average (39-for-83). The other batting average leader for Southwestern Oklahoma is Chloe Woodward with a .423 average (33-for-78).

In terms of power numbers, the Eagles have four total players that have hit at least one homerun on the year. Kylie Janzen leads the team in total homeruns with seven on the year, while Brown follows behind with four. Closing out the long bomb leaders is Brooklyn Bain with three and Abi LaValley with two. The leader in RBI's is Janzen with 40 followed by Brown with 37, while Bain closes out the leaders with 29.

In the circle, the Eagles have a team ERA of 1.91 and have struckout 237 in 279.0 total innings.

Four total pitchers have made at least one appearance in the circle this season so far for the Bulldogs. Kali Crandall leads in starts with 18, followed by Grace Anderson with 17. Crandall is 14-6 with a 2.13 ERA and has struckout 94 in 115.0 innings. Anderson is 11-2 with a 2.19 ERA and has 88 strikeouts in 105.1 total innings.

In relief, Lindsey Stoeckel leads with nine relief appearances and holds a 9-0 record. She has a 0.98 ERA and has struckout 43 hitters in 50.0 total innings pitched.

The Golden Suns enter this weeks mid-week matchup at 31-14 overall with a 21-6 record among Great American Conference opponents. Tech is coming off another perfect week where they picked up a 3-0 road sweep over Southwestern Oklahoma State.. The Golden Suns are 10-0 in their last 10 games and have won eight straight conference series against Southern Arkansas, Harding, Arkansas-Monticello, Southern Nazarene, Oklahoma Baptist, Ouachita Baptist, Henderson State and Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Offensively, the Golden Suns are hitting .288 as a team this season (339-for-1179) with 263 runs scored, 75 doubles, four triples and 56 homeruns. Entering the weekend, the Golden Suns have four batters with at least 100 at-bats hitting .300 or better and are led by Tymber Riley's .439 average (61-for-139). Caitlyn Wells also holds a solid average at the plate hitting .421 on the season (56-for-133).

In terms of power numbers, the Golden Suns boast 13 total players who have notched at least one homer on the year. Leading the charge in homeruns for Arkansas Tech is Riley who has launched 13 on the season. Wells follows behind Riley with ten busted homers, while Makenzie Goins has whacked nine and Shelby Chavers has six. Rounding out the list of homerun leaders for the Golden Suns is Holly Crutchfield with five and Brooke Prewitt with four. Leading Tech in RBI's on the season is Riley with 44 and Goins who has collected 41. Closing out the list for the Golden Suns is Wells with 39 RBI's on the season.

In the circle, the Golden Suns have a 2.12 team ERA and have struckout 268 batters in 296.2 total innings.

Eight total pitchers have made at least one appearance inside the circle for Arkansas Tech so far this season. Shannon Lasey leads the team in starts with 22. Bailey Buffington has 15 starts, while Maddy Prough has started seven games. Lasey is 14-5 when starting in the circle and holds a 1.50 ERA, the best among the Tech starters. The sophomore pitcher has also recorded 100 strikeouts in 107.1 innings pitched and has held opposing bats to just a .176 average at the plate. Buffington is 10-5 with a 2.60 ERA and has collected 75 strikeouts in 83.1 innings of work. She is also holding opposing bats at the plate to just a .222 average. Prough is 5-4 with a 2.88 ERA and has struckout 41 in 48.2 innings. Like the other two starters, Prough holds hitters to a low average of .230 at the plate.

In relief, Kaila Cartwright leads the Golden Suns with 23 total appearances, that includes a start and is 2-0 while boasting a 1.05 ERA. Cartwright has managed to log 44 strikeouts in 46.2 innings and leads the Golden Suns in saves with five. Lasey has two saves on the year and Prough has one to round out the group with saves.
