Golden Suns Face Harding in Midweek Doubleheader

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Coming off their three-game series win over Southern Arkansas at home last weekend, the Arkansas Tech softball team looks to continue their success against Harding for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday afternoon, but due to field conditions from inclement weather it was pushed back a day. First pitch is set to go at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Chartwells Womens Sports Complex.

SCOUTING THE BISONS

Harding enters Wednesday's doubleheader with a 15-6 overall record and currently sit at a 4-2 record among conference opponents and are coming off a 2-1 series win over Ouachita Baptist. The Bisons have also picked up a GAC series win against Southeastern.

As a team, the Bisons are hitting .323 so far this season (200-for-619) with 131 runs scored, 37 doubles, nine triples and 30 homeruns. Entering Wednesday, the Bisons have a pair of hitters hitting .400 or better and are led by Nicole Shano with a .442 average (34-for-77).

In terms of power numbers, the Bisons have seven total players with at least one homerun and are led by Shano who has 10 bombs on the season. Following Shano is Emma Curry and Chelsea Blankenship who both have six homeruns on the season. Leigha Harris, Hanna Jones, Ashton Bryce and Madison Fraley account for the rest of the Bisons long bombs. Shano also leads Harding in total RBI's with 22, while Curry and Blankenship have 20 and 19, respectively.

In the circle, the Bisons have a 4.43 team ERA and have struckout 98 hitters in 145.1 innings.

Four total pitchers have made an appearance so far this season for the Bisons. Lily Tanski leads with 11 starts while Maegan Pistokache and Jessica Bridges each have five starts. Tanski is 5-4 with a 4.15 ERA and leads the team in strikeouts with 39 in 57.1 innings of work. Pistokache is 6-1 with a 4.49 ERA and has struckout 29 in 48.1 total innings.

TECH TIDBITS

The Golden Suns enter Wednesday's midweek doubleheader with a 12-10 overall record and an even 3-3 record among conference opponents and are coming off a strong 2-1 series win over Southern Arkansas.

Offensively, the Golden Suns are hitting .275 as a team this season (156-for-568) with 121 runs scored, 32 doubles, two triples and 30 homeruns. Entering Wednesday, the Golden Suns have three batters with at least 50 at-bats hitting .300 or better and are currently led by Tymber Riley's .433 average (29-for-67).

In terms of power numbers, the Golden Suns boast 10 players who have notched at least one homerun. Riley is currently the leader in homeruns on the team with seven, while Caitlyn Wells follows close behind with six bombs. Holly Crutchfield has hit five, Shelby Chavers has hit four and Makenzie Goins has crushed three to close out the leaders in homers so far this season. The team leader in RBI's is Riley with 22, with Wells following closely behind at 21, while Goins rounds out the top group with 17.

In the circle, the Golden Suns have a 2.72 team ERA and have struckout 130 batters in 144.0 total innings.

Eight total pitchers have made at least one appearance in the circle for the Golden Suns so far this season. Bailey Buffington and Maddy Prough each have seven starts, while Shannon Lasey leads with eight total starts. Buffington is 5-3 with a 1.50 ERA and leads in strikeouts with 37 in 42.0 innings of work. Among her seven starts, Buffington has put together complete games in three of them and is 2-1 in those outings. Prough is 4-3 with a 3.10 ERA and has 36 strikeouts in 40.2 innings. Lasey is 3-4 with a 3.26 ERA and has recorded 31 strikeouts in 34.1 total innings.

In relief, Kaila Cartwright leads the Golden Suns with eleven total appearances and has a 2.10 ERA. Cartwright has struckout 20 batters in 20.0 relief innings and picked up her first save of the season in her last outing against Southern Arkansas. Lasey and Prough account for the other two saves so far this season for the Golden Suns.
