TIPPING OFF

Coming off a tough loss to Southern Nazarene, Arkansas Tech looks ahead to their Monday night game.

The Golden Suns will stay at home on Monday for a makeup game. Arkansas Tech finds themselves going head-to-head against Arkansas-Monticello in Tucker Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside Tucker on Monday evening.

Earlier this season, the Golden Suns picked up a road win over Arkansas-Monticello 72-66 and look to sweep the season series on Monday night.

With a 12-9 record on the year, the Golden Suns have shown that they are a team with a lot of resilience. Their 94-84 win against Southern Arkansas at home showed how elite the Golden Suns can be when scoring the ball with two players scoring over 20 points. 

 Against East Central on the road, the Golden Suns found some hot shooting as the team hit 44.4% of their shots from long range to end the Tigers five game win streak.

The Golden Suns had their best performance of the season against Southern Nazarene on the road where they controlled the entire game and won 80-52. Three members of the Golden Suns hit double figures in scoring, all above 15 points or more. The team also shot a season high 60.0% (6-of-10) from three.
 



TECH TIDBITS

Arkansas Tech enters this week with a 12-9 overall record and a 9-8 record among conference opponents. Their last outing proved to be a tough loss to Southern Nazarene at home.

Statistically, this year, the Golden Suns are averaging 74.3 ppg and rank fourth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank eighth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 70.9 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .423 (558-of-1319) and are limiting their opponents to a .400 mark (521-of-1303) to rank eighth. 

From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns are shooting at a clip of .319 (115-of-361) to rank eighth in the GAC while their opponents are making three-pointers at a mark of .334 (135-of-404) to rank 11th. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns are shooting .739 as a team (329-of-445) to rank fourth.

Individually, the Golden Suns have three players averaging double figures in scoring. Kaley Shipman leads the way at 17.5 ppg. Jayana Sanders is next at 14.6 ppg. Rounding out the list of the double figure scorers for Arkansas Tech is Ashlei Lopez who is averaging 14.3 ppg .

The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 15th season on the sidelines at Tech. A member of the 300-career win club, Wilbers has a career record of 324-104. 

Overall in his time at Tech, Wilbers has kept the Golden Suns as perennial contenders in the GAC, the region and the nation, winning 20 or more games nine times, capturing seven conference regular championships, five conference tournament championships and advancing to nine NCAA Regional Tournaments.
 



SCOUTING THE COTTON BLOSSOMS

Arkansas-Monticello enters Monday's conference game at 0-22 overall with an 0-16 record in conference play and are coming off a loss at home against Southeastern 61-80.

In their first matchup against the Golden Suns this season, the Cotton Blossoms lost at home 66-72.

Statistically this season, the Cotton Blossoms average 56.8 ppg on offense to rank last in the GAC and give up an average of 84.4 ppg to rank last in the GAC. In terms of field goal percentages, UAM shoots at a .344 clip overall (439-of-1278) to rank last and is allowing opponents to shoot at a mark of .445 (704-of-1583) to rank 11th. 

From three-point range, the Cotton Blossoms shoot at a .305 clip (131-of-430) to rank tenth in the GAC and are allowing their opponents to shoot .349 (173-of-495) from range to rank last. At the charity stripe, the Cotton Blossoms shoot .674 (242-of-359) to rank tenth in the GAC.

Individually, the Cotton Blossoms have one player scoring in double figures in Taylor Flores who is currently putting up 15.4 points per game. From long range, Flores averages a solid 41.4% to bring some fire power to the team. On the defensive end of the floor, Jasmyn Taylor is a strong presence in the paint averaging 2.3 blocks per game this season for Arkansas-Monticello.

The Cotton Blossoms are coached by Markell Cox, who is in his second season at the helm of Arkansas-Monticello. In his time as the Cotton Blossoms coach, Cox has a 1-29 overall record.
