RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Following their second straight Great American Conference victory with a 3-1 win against Henderson State in Tucker Coliseum on Tuesday evening, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team hits the road once again as they travel to Magnolia to take on Southern Arkansas.
Earlier this season, the Golden Suns defeated the Muleriders in a 3-0 sweep in Tucker Coliseum.
Last season, the Muleriders went 5-21 overall with a 1-15 record among GAC opponents. So far this season, SAU is 6-18 overall with a 4-9 record in conference play. Leading the offensive attack this season for the Muleriders is Landry Rogers with 268 kills while averaging 3.31 kills per set. Behind Rogers is Anna Crittenden with 140 kills and Lauryn Moultrie with 128. Pacing the SAU offense is Morgan Schuster with 589 assists on the year and she averages 7.10 assists per set. Leading the Muleriders in service aces is Sakura Thomas with 16.
On defense, the Muleriders are led by Thomas with 255 total digs on a 3.31 dig per set average. Samantha Still follows Thomas with 195 digs, while Rogers has 176. In terms of blocks, Moultrie leads the way with 17 solo blocks and 34 assisted for a total of 51. Isla Olivas has also done a good job at the net with 14 solo blocks and and 36 assisted for 50 blocks overall.
Moving to the Golden Suns,
Maddi Siedenburg leads the offensive attack with 185 total kills, on a 2.80 kill per set average. Following Siedenburg is
Heather Thomas with 177 kills on the year while averaging 1.90 kills per set.
Brianna Merkel slots in right behind Thomas with 138 kills on the season and
Kaitlyn Neal has also contributed on the attack with 137 total kills on the season thus far. Pacing the offense is Merkel with 374 assists, while averaging 4.62 assists per set.
Gracie Palmer averages 3.23 assists per set and has set set up 297 total assists. In terms of service aces, the pair of
Megan Solberg and
Jamie Myrick head up the Golden Suns with 34 aces each.
Anchoring the Golden Suns on defense is Solberg with 385 digs on the year and she is averaging 4.14 digs per set. Myrick has also added plenty of help on defense with 239 total digs on a 2.60 dig per set average. Holding down the front of the net for the Golden Suns is Thomas with 14 solo blocks and 55 assisted blocks, for 69 total on the season and is averaging 0.74 blocks per set. Following behind Thomas, at the front of the net, is
Lydia Hale with 32 total blocks, while
Sierra Orton has 24.
The match against the Muleriders is set for a 6 p.m. first serve tonight in Magnolia.
