Golden Suns prep for home match against Henderson State on Pack the Stands Night

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Following their 3-0 sweep at home over Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday evening, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team gears up for another week of GAC action as Henderson State comes to town for a Tuesday night showdown. 

This will be the second time this season the two programs have faced one another with the Reddies narrowly taking the previous matchup back in September in Arkadelphia in a 3-2 win.

The Reddies currently sit at 8-16 overall and are 2-10 against GAC opponents.

Individually, Christiane Uzoh leads the offense for the Reddies with 240 kills, while averaging 2.79 per set on the season. She is followed by Aleah Stogner with 157 kills and Kaitlyn Sykes with 105. Sykes also posts the best hitting percentage among the three getting .213 of her kills to go down. Pacing the Reddie offense is Madison Hatt with 441 assists on a 5.13 assist per set average on the year. Skylar Fernandez also contributes in assists averaging 2.69 per set and setting up 183 total assists. In terms of service aces, Dani Dagley leads the team with 18 and is followed by both Fernandez and Hatt who have 17 each. 

For the Henderson State defense, Trinity Sharp heads up the pack with 312 total digs with a 3.80 digs per set average. Sharp is followed by Dagley with a 3.40 dig per set average and 299 total on the season. At the front of the net, Kaitlyn Sykes leads the blocking effort with 24 solo blocks and 46 assisted for 70 total blocks. Uzoh has also contributed with 19 solo blocks and 37 blocks assisted for 56 total.

Moving to the Golden Suns, Maddi Siedenburg leads the offensive attack with 166 total kills, on a 2.68 kills per set average. Following Siedenburg is Heather Thomas with 165 kills on the year while averaging 1.85 kills per set. Brianna Merkel slots in right behind Thomas with 125 kills on the season and Kaitlyn Neal has also contributed on the attack with 124 total kills on the season thus far. Pacing the offense is Merkel with 373 assists, while averaging 4.84 assists per set. Gracie Palmer averages 2.86 assists per set and has set set up 252 total assists. In terms of service aces, Megan Solberg leads the team with 32, while Jamie Myrick follows with 31.

Anchoring the Golden Suns on defense is Solberg with 365 digs on the year and she is averaging 4.10 digs per set. Myrick has also added plenty of help on defense with 216 total digs on a 2.45 dig per set average. Holding down the front of the net for the Golden Suns is Thomas with 13 solo blocks and 54 assisted blocks, for 67 total on the season and is averaging 0.75 blocks per set. Following behind Thomas, at the front of the net, is Hale with 32 total blocks, while Sierra Orton has 22.

The match against Henderson State will be in Tucker Coliseum and is set for a 6 p.m. first serve on Tuesday night. That night will also be Pack the Stands Night against the Reddies.
