RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Volleyball Team will travel to Magnolia, Ark. to face Southern Arkansas in a GAC matchup. The Golden Suns picked up a dominant win in their last game against Henderson State to end their seven-game win streak. Arkansas Tech comes into the match against SAU riding a five-game win streak with an 8-3 overall record and a 2-0 conference record.
The Lady Muelrider's last match was a 2-3 loss against Arkansas-Monticello. Southern Arkansas currently sits 4-8 overall on the season with an 0-2 conference record.
Senior outside hitter Tymber Riley will be the offensive weapon to keep an eye on for the Golden Suns. Riley has a combined 43 kills over the three games for Arkansas Tech. Senior right-side hitter Haylee Paladini had an excellent offensive day for the Golden Suns in their last match against Henderson State setting her season-high with 15 kills. Senior middle blocker Emily Ragsdale has recorded a solid 80 total kills on the season, the second-highest on the team.
Pacing the offense so far this season has been junior setter Brianna Merkel racking up 258 total assists on the season. Sophomore setter Gracie Palmer has also been pacing the offense well as of late with 53 assists across her last three games played.
Senior libero Madison Grantham has lead the defensive effort for the Golden Suns with 163 total digs on the season while averaging 3.98 digs per set. Emily Ragsdale lead the team in total blocks with 36 on the season. Brianna Merkel and junior outside hitter Kaitlynn Bradley tie for the second-most blocks on the team, both with 21 on the season.
The match against Southern Arkansas will be tomorrow Thursday, September 23. The match is set for a 6 p.m. start time.
