RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Volleyball Team will take the floor to defend home court in Tucker Coliseum on Tuesday night as Henderson State comes to town. The Golden Suns come into the match riding a perfect 4-0 week, which included a win in the first GAC matchup of the season against Arkansas-Monticello in their home opener. Tech currently sits at 7-3 overall on the season and is 1-0 in conference play.

Henderson State is currently 11-2 overall and hold a 1-0 conference record. In their last match against Mississippi College, Henderson won 3-0 and extended their current win streak to seven in a row.

After a solid offensive performance last week, senior outside hitter Tymber Riley will lead the Golden Sun attack against Henderson. Riley set a new season high in kills with 21 in their win against Union University this past weekend. Freshman outside hitter Abby Simpson had a solid offensive performance for Tech last week racking up 36 kills across the weeks four matches. Simpson also recorded 15 kills against Union, a new season high for the outside hitter.

Pacing the offense will be junior setter Brianna Merkel who came up with 79 total assists for the week, including a new season high of 39 in the match against Arkansas-Monticello. Sophomore setter Gracie Palmer also contributed with 62 assists on the week and a new season high of 31 against Union.

Leading the defensive effort for the Golden Suns will be senior libero Madison Grantham who totaled 68 digs last week. Grantham also set a new season high in digs at 19 against Arkansas-Monticello and then had another 19 digs against Christian Brothers. Grantham is currently averaging 3.59 digs per set. Leading the team in total blocks with 35 is senior middle blocker Emily Ragsdale.

The match against Henderson State will be tomorrow Tuesday, September 21 in Tucker Coliseum and is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start time. Tuesday night will also be Student-Athlete Night.
