ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) released its annual All-Region awards over the weekend and three Arkansas Tech baseball players earned All-Central Region honors.
Headlining the group of Wonder Boys was
Jonathon Arrieta as he was named First Team All-Central Region at first base. The other two Wonder Boys landed on the Second Team with
Evan Hafley garnering the plaudit at designated hitter and
Patrick Miner as a starting pitcher.
Hafley and Miner were both previously named First Team All-Great American Conference at those respective positions with Arrieta being on the Second Team at first base on the conference level.
Jonathon Arrieta
In earning First Team honors, Arrieta leads the team and ranks in a tie for fifth in the GAC in home runs with 12. He also ranks in the top-10 in the GAC in RBIs (43 - T9th) and has 13 multi-RBI games and twice has had four or more RBIs in a game.
Evan Hafley
For Hafley, he earned second team designated hitter honors after having the third-highest batting average on team. He also had 17 multi-hit games and had an on-base streak of 29 games during the course of the season. Of his 58 hits thus far, 20 have gone for extra-base with 11 doubles & 9 home runs
Patrick Miner
The only unanimous selection in entire All-GAC release this year, Miner reached the 100-strikeout milestone in just 88.1 innings of work for a 10.2 K/9. He is one of only 14 pitchers in DII to reach the century mark this year. Over the course of the season, he has had at least four strikeouts in each of his 14 starts so far and struck out eight or more seven times. Miner currently leads the GAC in Innings Pitched (88.1), Strikeouts (100), Wins (9) and Games Started (14). He also has the third-lowest ERA in GAC at 3.53 and four-lowest opponent batting average at .242.
