INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time this season and in the final ranking ahead of Selection Sunday, the Arkansas Tech baseball team has appeared in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Rankings, checking in at No. 7.
The Wonder Boys remain on the outside-looking-in at No. 7 as this year's regional will only be a six-team regional instead of the usual eight teams due to COVID-19 concerns. Another factor placing the Wonder Boys on periphery is the fact than unranked Henderson State has already secured the automatic qualifying bid from the Great American Conference winning the tournament a day ago.
There are also still two more auto bids out there as the MIAA and NSIC are still playing their conference tournaments. The winners of each tournament will get that league's bid. Ranked in the final regional rankings from the NSIC are Augustana (No. 2), Minnesota State-Mankato (No. 3), St. Cloud State (No. 6) and Minnesota-Crookston (No. 8). The lone team from the MIAA in the final rankings is Central Missouri (No. 1).
The NCAA Division II Baseball Selection Show is scheduled for 9 p.m. Central Time on Sunday, May 23. It will be livestreamed on NCAA.com
