FIRST SERVE
The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns will appear in their seventh Great American Conference championship tournament semifinal this weekend against the No. 1 seed from the GAC Western Division, Oklahoma Baptist. The teams will face off on Saturday, April 10 in Rhodes-Reaves Fieldhouse at 6 p.m. in Searcy, as the hosting site was predetermined prior to the season.
The Golden Suns opened the GAC championship tournament with a sweep over Henderson State inside Tucker Coliseum. Arkansas Tech finished the regular season with a 6-4 record in GAC play and earned the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Division, securing a first-round bye in the tournament.

TECH TIDBITS
In their last match, the Golden Suns took down the Reddies in straight sets in the GAC championship tournament quarterfinals.
Tymber Riley led the Golden Suns with 11 kills while hitting .320 for the match.
Mackenzie Eford put down 11 kills, hitting .304 with
Haylee Paladini rounding out double-figure kills with 10 in the win.
Kaitlynn Bradley posted a career-high seven blocks and added four kills with no errors.
Brianna Merkel and
Emily Acker dished out 22 and 14 assists respectively.
Madison Grantham led the defense once again with 16 digs and
Maggie Schlueter posted a season-high 11 digs.
Eford and Paladini surpassed the 100-kills mark in the Golden Suns recent victory, as Eford leads the team with 108 and Paladini follows with 104. Eford is second in the conference in hitting percentage at .301 on the season. Merkel and Acker split time directing the offense for the Golden Suns, averaging 7.58 and 4.60 assist per set.
Madison Grantham anchors the defense averaging 5.60 digs per set.

SCOUTING THE BISON
The Lady Bison will appear in their second consecutive GAC championship tournament semifinal after taking down East Central in straight sets on Thursday. After finishing the regular season with an overall record of 15-0 and a 10-0 record in GAC play, Oklahoma Baptist earned the No. 1 seed in the GAC Western Division and are currently ranked No. 4 in the latest AVCA poll.
Oklahoma Baptist is led by outside hitter Malia Leatherland, averaging 3.56 kills per set and has put down a team-high 128 kills on the season. Kaylee Buell leads the GAC, averaging 10.16 assists per set and has directed the Lady Bison offense to hit .232 as a team for the season. Diana Carranza paces the defense with 4.86 digs per set, while Audrey Poupard tops the GAC standings with 1.28 blocks per set.
