FIRST PITCH
For the second time this week, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns will take the field, this time against Henderson State in Arkadelphia. The Golden Suns will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. They will play another doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon, where game one will complete the three-game conference series and game two will count as a nonconference game.
The Golden Suns enter the weekend series with a 14-13 overall record and an 11-7 record in Great American Conference play. Arkansas Tech has own their last six games after sweeping Ouachita Baptist and Harding in a doubleheader this week.
TECH TIDBITS
In their last outing, the Golden Suns finished the #RivalryTuesday series, sweeping the Lady Bisons of Harding at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex. The 3-1 victory in game one counted as a conference matchup while the 2-1 win in game two went down as a nonconference. All three runs in game on came of solo shots to left field from
Brooke Prewitt,
Tymber Riley and
Paty Loredo. In game two, a double from Riley followed by a single from
Caitlyn Wells tied the game 1-1 before the Golden Suns loaded the bases and scored on a walk-off error to take game two 2-1.
Wells found herself back at the top, leading the Golden Suns with a .389 (28-for-72) batting average, followed by
Abbie Cain at .366 (15-for-41) and Loredo at .328 (19-for-58). Wells leads the team with nine doubles and 18 RBIs with Riley leading in 20 runs scored this season.
Maddy Prough picked up two wins against the Lady Bisons and she leads the Golden Sun's staff with 46 strikeouts in 47.2 innings of work.
SCOUTING THE REDDIES
The Reddies enter the weekend series with an 11-20 overall record and an 8-13 record in GAC play. In their last outing the Reddies took down Ouachita Baptist 1-0 on Tuesday. The Reddies were swept by Southern Arkansas in their last weekend series.
Kaitlyin O'Quinn paces the offense, hitting .373 (38-for-102) followed by Abbie Moore at .311 (28-for-90) as the two Reddies hitting .300 or above. Moore leads the team with three homeruns and 14 RBIs. Mallory Brewer leads the pitching staff with 67 strikeouts and 90.1 innings of work.
