Golden Suns outshine Bisons in game one, walk off in game two, sweeping the double header

Sweeping the double header

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Three solo home runs in game one and a walk off on an error in game two gave the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns the midweek sweep over the Harding Lady Bisons on Tuesday. Maddy Prough picked up two wins on the day and the Golden Suns extended their win streak to six.

GAME ONE
The two teams went scoreless in the first inning, with the Golden Suns going down in order. The Lady Bisons put two on in the top of the second before Shannon Lasey forced a groundout to end the inning.

Brooke Prewitt launched her first bomb of the season, a solo homer to left field to put the Golden Suns on the board in the bottom of the second. The Lady Bisons went scoreless until the fifth, putting up one run to tie things 1-1.

Tymber Riley joined in on the fun, launching a solo homer to left field to put the Golden Suns up 2-1. Paty Loredo came up to the plate and followed Riley's suit, knocking her first homerun of the season out of left field on her second pitch, extending the lead 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

Shannon Lasey went 4.1 innings, allowing just one run on four hits, Maddy Prough came in relief, picking up the win after going 2.2 innings, not allowing a hit and stirking out three.

GAME TWO
The Lady Bisons got on the board first in the top of the inning. The Golden Suns answered right back after Riley opened the inning with a double to left center and scored Caitlin Wells knocked a single to left field. Arkansas Tech two walks to load the bases but were unable to convert and left the inning tied 1-1.

After scoring in the opening inning, the two teams went scoreless in the next three innings, remaining tied 1-1 in the fifth. Both staffs kept pressure on as the game went into extra innings with neither team scoring from the first on.

The Golden Suns got things going in the bottom of the eight when Riley drew a walk. Holly Crutchfield entered as a pinch runner and advanced to second after a sacrifice bunt from Abbie Cain. Loredo singled to center field, advancing Crutchfield to third. Wells was intentionally walked, loading the bases before Prewitt drilled a ball at the shortstop, forcing a fielding error and scoring Crutchfiled, giving the Golden Suns the game 2-1 in eight innings.
