Golden Suns sweep the doubleheader and series against Ouachita

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After taking game one of the series on Friday, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns continued their winning ways, sweeping the doubleheader and the series against the Ouachita Baptist Tigers, 4-1 and 2-1 on Saturday.
 
GAME ONE
Both teams went scoreless through the first inning after Ouachita registered two singles in the top of the inning but were unable to convert. The Golden Suns got on the board first in the bottom of the second after Caitlyn Wells singled up the middle and scored after a single through the right side from Makenzie Goins.
 
Tymber Riley opened the bottom of the of the third, drawing a walk before Abbie Cain reached on a throwing error and Riley advanced to third. Caitlyn Wells answered the call with a single through the left side to score Riley and Arissa Harrish drew a walk to force a run for the Golden Suns, putting them up 3-0 after three.
 
Makenzie Addis opened the fourth with a double down the left field line and eventually scored after a sacrifice bunt from Riley and a sacrifice fly from Cain to extend the Golden Suns lead to 4-0. The Tigers posted one run in the top of the sixth but the Golden Suns took game on 4-1 after a complete game from Maddy Prough.
 
GAME TWO
Riley opened game two with a bomb to left field, her second of the season, to put the Golden Suns up 1-0 in the first inning. The Tigers went down in order in the top of the second and third innings.
 
Cain singled in the bottom of the third and reached second after a fielding error. A single to the right side from Paty Loredo brought Cain in, giving the Golden Suns a 2-0 lead. Lasey kept the Tigers scoreless until they used a walk and an error to get on the board. Kaila Cartwright came and forced two outs to finish the top of the sixth. Arkansas Tech kept their lead and took game two, 2-1.
