FIRST PITCH
After picking up a sweep and battling through a rainy weekend over a week ago, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns travel over to Searcy to face the Lady Bisons of Harding.
The Golden Suns enter the weekend with a 5-2 overall record and a perfect 3-0 record in Great American Conference play. Due to COVID-19 protocols, Arkansas Tech was unable to face Southern Arkansas last weekend.
In their last outing, the Golden Suns took game one then swept a double-header against East Central despite being delayed by rain and playing in at a different facility. The three-game series was played in Conway due to weather concerns.
In game one of the day, freshman pitcher
Shannon Lasey picked up her second win of the season, pitching a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) off two hits, striking out six. Caitlin Wells continued her hitting streak, knocking a double that scored
Makenzie Addis and
Makenzie Goins.
Holly Crutchfield reached on a fielder's choice, bringing Addis once again.
McKenzie Harrish got in on the scoring when Goins reached on a fielder's choice. The Golden Suns took game one, 3-2.
Robyn Bales picked up the win in game two and
Maddy Prough grabbed her second save of the season in the Golden Suns 6-3 victory. Crutchfield started things off, scoring on a throwing error after a single from
Reisa Bakenhus. Wells singled up the middle to score
Tymber Riley and a sacrifice fly from
Morgan Page scored Goins. Bakenhus knocked two more singles to score Wells and
Abbie Cain before Addis popped up a sacrifice fly to score
Brooke Prewitt, leading the Golden Suns to a 6-3 win.

TECH TIDBITS
Heading into the #RivalryTuesday series,
Caitlyn Wells leads the Golden Suns in hitting at .636 (7-for-11). She leads the team in doubles and hits in just four games.
Reisa Bakenhus follows Wells, hitting at .357 (5-for-14).
Tymber Riley,
Brooke Prewitt and
Paty Loredo have also registered five hits on the season.
On the mound,
Shannon Lasey and
Robyn Bales each have two wins, followed by
Lexy Taylor with one. Lasey has pitched two complete games in her first two outings and
Maddy Prough has picked up two saves in her four appearances. Prough leads the way with 15 strikeouts.

SCOUTING THE LADY BISONS
Harding enters the double-header with a 5-2 overall record and a 1-2 record in GAC play. The Lady Bisons dropped their opening conference series to Ouachita Baptist, 2-1 after the Tigers swept the double header. Harding answered with a 10-1 (5 inn.) win in the series finale. Lily Tanski picked up her third win of the season, pitching all five innings, allowing just one run on six hits and striking out three. Ashleyn Peterson went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.
For the season, Jordan Cabana leads Harding hitting a .579 clip with 11 hits, followed by Madison Fraley at a .438 clip with seven hits and Chelsea Blankenship at a .400 clip with eight hits. The Lady Bisons have five other hitters with a .300 average or better. Tanski has pitched three complete games and leads the team with 22 strikeouts.
