FIRST SERVE
In their last week of regular season play, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns travel to Searcy to face off against the top-seeded Lady Bisons of Harding. Last week, the Golden Suns secured the No. 2 seed in the Great American Conference Eastern Division, earning them a first-round bye in the championship tournament. Arkansas Tech will take on the winner of the match between the No. 3 seed and No. 6 Southern Arkansas, Thursday, April 8 at 6 p.m.
The Golden Suns enter this week with a 6-3 overall record, taking down Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas-Monticello twice this season and splitting with Southern Arkansas and Henderson State.
TECH TIDBITS
In their last match,
Haylee Paladini buried a career-high 22 kills and grabbed 12 digs for a double-double and
Mackenzie Eford notched 13 kills, while hitting .423 for the match.
Madison Grantham led the Golden Suns again with 28 digs and
Emily Ragsdale,
Rilie Vote and Eford grabbed three blocks each.
Brianna Merkel dished out a match-high 43 assists and grabbed another double-double with 12 digs.
Vote, Eford and Paladini continue to lead the Golden Suns in kills on the season. Vote has put down 86, with right behind her with 85 and Paladini with 82. Eford's .288 hitting percentage is third-best in the GAC while Ragsdale 1.09 blocks per set and Grantham's 5.83 digs per set put them each in the top-5 of the GAC.
SCOUTING THE LADY BISONS
Harding enters the match against the Golden Suns with a perfect 8-0 record in conference play. The Lady Bison took down Ouachita Baptist in their last match in four sets. Logan Smith put down 19 kills and picked up 24 digs for a double-double and Ally Stoner followed with 14. Kelli McKinnon notched a match-high six blocks.
Smith leads the Lady Bisons, averaging 3.86 kills per set, followed by Libby Hinton with 2.79. Sarah Morehead directs the offense, averaging 9.82 assists per set and .82 kills per set. Katherine Cowart anchors the defense, averaging .5.86 digs per set while McKinnon averages .86 blocks per set.
