SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns bounced back in game two of the doubleheader in the, taking down Oklahoma Baptist Bison 5-4 after falling in the first game 6-1. The Golden Suns will be back in action Tuesday in Magnolia to take on Southern Arkansas.
GAME ONE
Tymber Riley open the game, getting hit by a pitch before
Caitlyn Wells walked but the Golden Suns could not convert in the top of the first inning. The Bison were able to get on the board first with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning.
Brooke Prewitt opened the second by drawing a walk. The next three Golden Suns went down in order. Oklahoma Baptist posted another three runs with a three-run shot to left center.
Both teams went down in order in the third. Prewitt gave the Golden Suns their first hit with a single through the right side but Arkansas Tech remained scoreless after four innings. The Bison tacked on another run after errors from the Golden Suns, taking a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Riley took another pitch of the body to start the fifth inning before a double from
Paty Loredo scored her to put the Golden Suns on the board. Kayla Cartwright retired the Bison in order in the bottom of the inning. Arkansas Tech went down in order in the top sixth before the Bison followed suit, going down in order.
Arissa Harrish singled up the middle to start the seventh, followed by singles from Riley and Wells but the Golden Suns left all three runners on base in the inning, falling in game one of the doubleheader, 6-1.
GAME TWO
Abbie Cain singled to right center in her first at-bat of game two and Loredo drew a walk but the Bison got out of the inning. Oklahoma Baptist went scoreless in the bottom if the first. Harrish drew a walk to open the second before the next three Golden Suns were retired.
Robyn Bales kept the Bison scoreless in the second.
The Golden Suns got on the board first after Riley drew a walk and scored on a single up the middle from Wells. Prewitt knocked a double to left field before the Bison got out of the third. Oklahoma Baptist answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie things 1-1.
Oklahoma Baptist put two more runs on the board in the fifth before the Golden Suns tied things in the sixth.
Abbie Cain singled to center field after
Tymber Riley drew a walk and
Destiny Sanders reached on a fielder's choice. Loredo singled to right center to score Riley and Sanders to tie things 3-3 in the top of the sixth.
In the seventh, Prewitt singled through the left side and Addis reached on a fielding error before Makenzie Harrish singled to right field to score Prewitt. Addis scored on a fielder's choice to put the Golden Suns up 5-3. The Bison scored one more run but Arkansas Tech held on for the 5-4 victory.
