Golden Suns drop doubleheader against #16 Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – In their second day of doubleheaders, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns pushed #16 Oklahoma Christian to its limits, falling 2-1 and 3-1 in the non-conference series.
 
The Golden Suns will be back in Great American Conference action this weekend against Oklahoma Baptist in a three-game series with a single game on Friday at 5 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
 
GAME ONE
After two scoreless innings, the Golden Suns got on the board with a single from Abbie Cain scoring Abigail Lochala, who drew a walk to start the third inning. The Eagles put two runs up in the first two innings, proving to be enough as Oklahoma Christian took game one, 2-1.
 
Cain knocked two hits in the game while Caitlyn Wells and Makenzie Addis had a hit apiece. Shannon Lasey pitched another complete game, only allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five.
 
GAME TWO
The Golden Suns struck first after Brooke Prewitt drew a walk to start the inning before scoring after she advanced to second on a single to center field from Tymber Riley and scored on a single to center field from Paty Loredo.
 
The Eagles answered with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Arkansas Tech had runners on base but were unable to convert in the final innings, falling 3-1 in game two.
 
Cain posted her second consecutive two-hit game while Riley, Loredo, Addis, Prewitt and Emily Magana each had one hit in the game. Lexy Taylor pitched a full six innings, allowing three runs off five hits.
