EDMOND, Okla. – In their fourth and fifth games in a five day span, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns faced off against #23 Central Oklahoma in Edmond Tuesday. The Golden Suns scored early in both games but ultimately fell in the doubleheader, 13-5 and 12-2.
The Golden Suns have a quick turnaround, taking on #8 Oklahoma Christian Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at noon in Oklahoma City, Okla.
GAME ONE
Caitlyn Wells continued her hot streak in the first inning, driving in
Abbie Cain with a single to center field after Cain singled up the middle, putting the Golden Suns up 1-0 in the top of the first. The Bronchos went down in order in the bottom of the inning. Arkansas Tech went down in order in the top of the second before UCO answered back with a homer to right-center, tying things 1-1 going into the third.
Wells knocked her second hit of the day, a double, scoring
Tymber Riley after she was hit by a pitch, putting Arkansas Tech up 2-1 in the top of the third. The Bronchos put together a six-run inning in the bottom of the third to go up 7-2. The Golden Suns went scoreless in the top of the fourth and the Bronchos added two more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Abbie Cain drew a walk before scoring on a double to right-center from
Paty Loredo. Loredo scored shortly after when
Makenzie Addis hammered her fifth home run of the season.
Arkansas Tech entered the bottom of the fifth trailing, 9-5 before the Bronchos put three more on the board, taking a 12-5 lead heading into the sixth inning. Central Oklahoma up another run to take the game 13-5 in six innings.
GAME TWO
The Golden Suns were on the board early again with a line out from Loredo scored Riley after her lead-off double. Central Oklahoma answered back with a homer in the bottom of the first, tying the game 1-1 after one inning of play. Addis opened the second inning with a single to left center but the Bronchos retired the next three batters to get out of the top of the inning. Central Oklahoma put up another run in the bottom of the inning, taking a 2-1 lead after two innings.
Cain drew a walk in the third inning but the Golden Suns were unable to convert in the top of the inning. The Bronchos kept things going in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs off four hits in the inning. Wells singled to left field to open the fourth but the Golden Suns could not convert.
Lexy Taylor went three up, three down in the bottom of the inning, retiring the Bronchos in order.
Morgyn Fulgham and
McKenzie Harrish drew walks to start the fifth inning before the Bronchos retired the next three Golden Suns. Central Oklahoma added a run in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-1 lead. Addis launched her second home run of the day to left field in the sixth. The Bronchos tacked on four more runs to take the game, 12-2 in six innings.
