RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After dropping the double point, the Arkansas Tech women's tennis team dominated singles competition winning all but one of the flights en route to a 5-2 win at home over Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday afternoon.
The first singles win in the book for the Golden Suns (6-3) came at flight No. 4 as
Daniela Baez made quick work of her opponent, winning in straight sets not dropping a game.
Aastha Dargude followed up with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles to push Tech ahead in the match 2-1.
Isabella Major's 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles made it a 3-1 score in the team match. UNK then claimed their lone win in singles play with a win at No. 5 singles. Both
Michelle Khoo and
Lea Grinberg would need to force a decisive third set following a loss in set one. Khoo and Grinberg would also both come away victorious in the third set, 6-2 and 6-0, respectively, to account for the Golden Suns final two points of the match.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for a mid-week conference match against Ouachita at home. The match with the Tigers is scheduled for a 2 p.m. first-serve on Wednesday, March 24 out at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
