FIRST PITCH
For the first time this season, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns will play at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex. The Golden suns host the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm this weekend in a three-game series with a single game on Friday at 5Â p.m. and a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday.
The Golden Suns have won both their weekend series this season, sweeping East Central and taking the series 2-1 over Arkansas-Monticello. Arkansas Tech enters the weekend with a 7-5 overall record and a 5-3 record in Great American Conference play.
TECH TIDBITS
In their last outing, the Golden Suns took down Arkansas-Monticello, 8-7 in the final game of the series. The teams split the doubleheader after Arkansas Tech took game one, 6-4.
Caitlyn Wells opened the game with a two-run homer scoring

Makenzie Addis launched her first solo homer in the second inning and followed with another in the fifth.

Maddy Prough picked up her first win of the season, going four innings, striking out two.
Robyn Bales picked up her first save of the season, pitching three innings, striking out two.
Loredo leads the Golden Suns, hitting .500 (9-for-18), followed by freshman
Caitlyn Wells at a .429 clip (12-for-28), who leads the team with 12 hits.
Brooke Prewitt also has double-digit hits with 11.
Makenzie Addis is tied leading the GAC with four home runs this season.
Prough leads the Golden Suns pitching staff with 34 strikeouts in 27.2 innings of work.
Shannon Lasey has only allowed 10 hits in her 19.1 innings while
Robyn Bales is second on the team with 16 strikeouts in 19 innings.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON STORM
The Crimson Storm enters the weekend series with an 8-12 overall record and a 6-5 record in GAC play. In their last conference outing, the Crimson Storm dropped three tightly-contested games against Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs edged out the Crimson Storm by four total runs on the weekend, taking the games 8-6, 11-10, and 9-8.
Southern Nazarene is led by Skye Ah Yat, hitting a .511 clip (23-for-45) and Mahina Sauer, hitting .460 (23-for-50) on the season. The Crimson Storm has three other hitters with a batting average of .330 or higher. Brooklyn Sparkman leads the pitching staff with 61 innings of work and 61 strikeouts, followed by Chelsea Vandiver with 45.1 innings and 16 strikeouts.
