ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season and did so in sweeping fashion as they beat Ouachita 7-0 in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon in Arkadelphia.
 
The Golden Suns (1-2) would get out to a dominant 1-0 lead in the match as they made quick work of the Tigers (0-2) in double action. The No. 2 doubles pairing of Daniela Baez and Lea Grinberg were particularly impressive as they shutout their opposing duo 6-0. The Golden Suns in total dropped just five games in doubles play.
 
In singles action, Michelle Khoo was the first to finish as she was dominant in her top-flight match, winning 6-1, 6-0. The next two singles matches to finish were Aastha Dargude at No. 3 singles and Lea Grinberg at No. 2 singles. Dargude would win 6-1, 6-1 while Grinberg won 6-1,-6-2 to give the Golden Suns a 4-0 advantage and for all intents and purposes, the match victory.
 
The would play out to completion, however, and Daniel Baez was next to finish at No. 4 singles, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
 
The final two singles matches proved to be the most completive with each going to a decisive third set. The first to finish among those was Isabella Major at No. 6. She would win the first set 6-4, but then dropped the second by same margin. In the third set, Major won 10-6.
 
The singles match with the most drama came at No. 5 with Megan Bell. She would take the first set 7-6 after winning the tie-breaker of that set 7-4. Bell then lost 6-4 in the second set, but took the third set 10-8 to secure the clean sweep for the Golden Suns.
 
The Golden Suns will now prepare to head to Conway on Thursday afternoon to take on Hendrix. First-serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
