RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After missing a week due to inclement weather, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team is back on the court to take on Harding in Tucker Coliseum. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
Both teams are undefeated entering the game, sitting at 3-0 this spring season. The two powerhouse teams have combined for seven regular season Great American Conference championships and six tournament championships.
TECH TIDBITS
The Golden Suns sit atop the GAC Eastern Division standings with Harding after winning their first three games of the adapted spring season. Arkansas Tech took down Ouachita and Arkansas-Monticello in straight sets and picked up a five-set win over Henderson State in their latest match.
Addison Masters and
Haylee Paladini lead the Golden Suns with 33 and 32 kills on the season. The two have had team-high kills in the last two matches.
Brianna Merkel leads the offense with 109 assists, averaging 9.91 assists per set. She has collected three consecutive double-doubles in her first three matches this season.
Madison Grantham anchors the defense for the Golden Suns, averaging 5.36 digs per set. She has picked up double-digit digs in every match this spring.
SCOUTING THE LADY BISONS
The Lay Bisons enter the match undefeated as well, coming off a conference tournament runner-up finish in 2019. Harding has won all three matches in straight sets against Arkansas-Monticello, Henderson State and Southern Arkansas.
Harding is led by Libby Hinton, averaging 3.33 kills per set, followed by Ally Stoner with 2.44 kills per set. Sarah Morehead directs the offense, averaging 8.56 assists per set and 1.67 kills per set. Katherine Cowart holds down the back row, averaging 4.56 digs per set. The Lady Bison lead the conference, averaging 2.67 service aces per set.
