Wonder Boys lose on the road at Henderson State

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team lost on the road at Henderson State by a score of 83-70 on Saturday afternoon inside the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.

As a result of the altered Great American Conference regular season schedule that was adopted in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Saturday's game was the unprecedented fourth time this regular season that the Wonder Boys (6-8, 4-8 GAC) and Reddies (7-7, 7-7 GAC) have met. Unfortunately, all four of the meetings have gone the way of the Reddies as they completed the unorthodox season sweep.

With the loss, the Wonder Boys also dropped a place in the Eastern Division standings and are now in fifth place. As recently announced the by league office, the current positioning of the Wonder Boys in the standings would see them take to the road in the first round of the conference tournament and play at the No. 4-seed in the East, which is currently held by Ouachita.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Wonder Boys will have three opportunities to improve their standings and ensure a home game in the tournament as they play on the road on Monday night at Harding, on the road at Southern Arkansas on Thursday and close out the regular season at home next Saturday against Ouachita.

In the game against the Reddies on Saturday, the Wonder Boys had four players score in double figures with Cejay Mann leading the way with 14 points. Seniors Ke'Lyn Adams and Tony Hall followed with 12 points each and Justin Briley rounded out double-figure scoring with a 10-point effort.

As a team, the Wonder Boys shot 43% overall from the floor (23-of-53) but were 7-of-23 (30%) from three-point range and 17-of-26 (65%) from the charity stripe. On the other end of the court, the Reddies shot 42% overall from the floor (27-of-64) but were 9-of-20 (45%) from deep and 20-of-25 (80%) from the free throw line.
