RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After a year away from any in-person events for its annual Homecoming celebration due to concerns related to COVID-19, the upcoming 2021 Homecoming slate of events at ATU are scheduled to return in-person and on campus, including the second-annual Fight On 5K and One Mile Fun Run, benefiting the Arkansas Tech athletic department.
 
The event is scheduled to take place beginning at Thone Stadium at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 23. 
 
"We are excited to be able to host an in-person 5K and one mile fun run on campus this year," remarked ATU interim director of athletics, Abby Davis. "This event is a great way for us to engage the fans, alumni and friends and have another signature athletics event in addition to our football game that is centered around Homecoming Weekend. We look forward to seeing this event grow into a must-do part of Homecoming!"
 
In its inaugural year, the Fight On 5K and One Mile Fun Run were forced to take place in a virtual format, but the overall participation and engagement was high. With that success and in an attempt to make the event as accessible as possible, a virtual option will also be made available so any one can participate from the comfort of their own favorite running/walking paths. In order for those to participate virtually, just register online, post pictures of your 5k run or fun mile on social media and tag ATU Athletics using the hashtag #FightOn5k.
 
Registration for the event is currently open online at www.ArkansasTechSports.com/FightOn5K. The price for registration is $30/person with all proceeds going to the Green and Gold Athletic Fund. Registration includes a 2021 Homecoming T-shirt and an exclusive medal for taking part in the 5K or One Mile Fun Run.
