Green takes down Gold in straight sets in first Green & Gold Match
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Golden Suns volleyball team played their first of several Green vs. Gold intrasquad contests. The Green squad's offensive power was too much for the Gold to handle, as they put down 64 kills to Gold's 32 in five sets of play. Green took all five sets, 25-14, 25-14, 25-17, 25-23, 15-12.
Green was led by senior
Haylee Paladini and junior
Addison Masters, who led the team with 12 kills apiece. Sophomore setter,
Brianna Merkel, led the match with 47 assists and junior libero,
Madison Grantham led the match with 27 digs.

Mackenzie Eford, led Gold with 12 kills followed by junior
Kaitlynn Bradley with seven. The setter duo of senior
Emily Acker and freshman
Gracie Palmer combined for 22 assists and sophomore
Megan Solberg led the team with 19 digs.
Green established large leads in the first three sets, holding the Gold offensive to hit .000, allowing only one lead change in the first set. Gold took a lead in the fifth set but was unable to hold on, as Green came from behind to seal the 5-0 victory.

Heather Thomas put up a fight at the net, blocking 12 shots to Green's eight over the course of five sets. Green's defense across the backline registered 89 digs. Green also added pressure from the service line, serving up 10 aces to Gold's seven.
The Golden Suns will continue to hold intrasquad contests for the remainder of semester, with their next match on Friday, November 13
th.
