FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
  • The Golden Suns hold an all-time 14-9 advantage in the series with Southeastern Oklahoma. The Savage Storm have won three of the last five meetings, including sweeping the 2018-19 series. Southeastern's win in Russellville on Feb. 2, 2019 was the first time the Savage Storm have won inside Tucker Coliseum.
  • Arkansas Tech hold an all-time 18-9 advantage in its series with East Central, going 2-1 last season. The Golden Suns' biggest win over ECU was a 76-74 double overtime victory in the GAC tournament. Tech is 11-1 all-time against ECU in Tucker Coliseum, with the lone Tiger victory coming in the two teams' first meeting on Nov. 29, 1986.
  • The Golden Suns have been bitten by the injury bug this season, and will face the stretch run without two of the top three leading scorers and rebounders as both Jalei Oglesby (19.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg) and Hannah Villines (10.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg) will miss the remainder of the season due to injury. Senior Leighton Taylor suffered an injury prior to the season and will not play.
  • The ascendance of Brenda da Silva as a force has been notable. Averaging 9.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, the junior has consecutive double-doubles, pouring in 19 points and 12 rebounds against UAM and then scoring 15 with 16 boards against Southern Arkansas.
  • Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse and Jayana Sanders continue to be a consistent presence in the Golden Suns lineup. Stackhouse is averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while Sanders averages 9.3 points and 2.3 boards, while dishing out 4.1 assists per contest.
