GOLDEN SUNS HOST TIGERS ON TUESDAY
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (10-5, 3-0 Great American Conference), will return to action at home against Ouachita (8-6, 3-0) on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in Tucker Coliseum. Live stats and live video will be available for the match at arkansastechsports.com.
The two teams sit atop the Great American Conference with three wins and no losses. Arkansas Tech, Ouachita and Oklahoma Baptist (13-3, 3-0) are in a three-way tie for first.
The Golden Suns are led offensively by the play of
Allie Anderson (158 kills, 2.98 kills per set) and
Rilie Vote (97 kills and 2.20 kills per set).
Brianna Merkel has directed the offense for the majority of the season, averaging 10.62 assists per set during conference play.
Madison Grantham continues to anchor the back row, averaging 4.04 digs a set and
Greer Rogers has led the front line with 1.42 blocks/set, which sits at fifth in the country.
Ouachita Baptist is off to its first 3-0 start in conference play in school history. The Tigers are led offensively by middle blocker Adrianna Nolly with 2.85 kills per set, hitting .311 for the season. Setters Temi Fayiga and Joni Schneider direct the offense, averaging 5.57 assists per set and 3.83 assists per set respectively. Defensively, Lexie Castillow leads the team with 4.57 digs a set and Nolly leads with .85 blocks/set.
The teams split their last two regular season meetings, each winning at home. Ouachita eliminated the Golden Suns from the GAC Tournament in 2018. Arkansas Tech leads the all-time series 46-20.
