GOLDEN SUNS OPEN AT HOME AGAINST SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Golden Suns (8-5) will open at home on Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Tucker Coliseum against Southern Arkansas. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. There will be 50 free t-shirts handed out and it's Student-Athlete Night.
The Golden Suns have won their last seven matches, after going undefeated at the USI Invitational in Evansville, Ind. this past weekend. Tech finished the tournament hitting a season-best .317 in a win against Kentucky State.
Allie Anderson leads the team, averaging 3.22 points per set. She has led the team in kills in six matches and has appeared in 45 sets. The Golden Suns defense features three of the top-five blockers in the conference with
Greer Rogers leading, averaging 1.45 blocks per set,
Haylee Paladini in third and
Mackenzie Eford rounding out the top-5.
Madison Grantham has held down the back-row, averaging four digs per set.
Southern Arkansas (2-9) has seen action in three tournaments this season along with a conference match against Ouachita. The Muleriders are led offensively by Morgan Gross (2.59 kills per set), Seven Powers (2.54 kills per set) and Morgan Schuster (8.82 assists per set). Defensively, Alana Perez leads the team with 4.13 digs per set and Lauren Smith leads with 1.07 blocks/set.
The Golden Suns lead the all-time series 40-29 against the Muleriders and have won the last two matchups in sweeps.
