GOLDEN SUNS WIN TWO AT USI INVITATIONAL

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Allie Anderson and Rilie Vote led the Golden Suns to wins against Shorter University and University of Southern Indiana. Anderson had 15 kills against Shorter and Vote had 13 kills against USI. The Golden Suns have won their last five matches in a row.

  • The Golden Suns finish the USI Classic tomorrow with matches against Kentucky Wesleyan at 10 a.m. and Kentucky State at 4:45 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The teams traded points early, with neither team taking a lead of more than two until Shorter went up 17-13.
  • Shorter used a 5-2 run to extend their lead to 22-15.
  • Tech clawed its way back to tie things up at 22-22.
  • The Hawks fought off several game points to take the first set 30-28.
  • Tech took an early 7-3 lead.
  • The Golden Suns extended their lead to as much as nine (18-9) before taking the second set 25-16.
