RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Golden Suns head to Kearney, Neb. to play four matches this weekend in the Rosella Meier Fall Classic at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. This weekend marks another opportunity for the team to secure a starting lineup before conference play begins Tuesday.

The Golden Suns will face #17 Rockhurst University (2-2) Friday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. match against host #8 University of Nebraska-Kearney (4-0). They will then play University of Mary (0-4) Saturday at 10 a.m. and finish the tournament with a match against New Mexico Highlands University (1-3) at 4 p.m. Live stats and video will be available for all four matches.

"I'm really looking forward to this weekend," said head coach Kera Dukic.  "It's another opportunity for us to play against some really talented teams and continue working through our lineup possibilities. The team has been working hard all week and we spent a good amount of time reflecting on and growing from this past weekend. I truly believe that all the pieces are there, we just have to figure it out together."

Series History
  • Rockhurst: Rockhurst leads the series 5-2. The Golden Sun won the last meeting, 3-2, on Sept. 3, 2012.
  • Nebraska-Kearney: UNK leads the series 1-0.
  • UMary: This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
  • NMHU: This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

Three Things to Know
1. Tough to Scout
All four matches will be tough to scout, seeing that it's early in the season and the Golden Suns have never faced two of the programs in the tournament. The last time Tech faced an opponent in this tournament was in     2012, so there are no recent meetings to scout.

2. All Eyes on Anderson
In the opening weekend of the 2019 season, senior Allie Anderson surpassed 700 career kills in an Arkansas Tech jersey. She leads the team in kills this season and led the team in three of their first four matches.

3. Approaching 300 Digs
Sophomore Madison Grantham is quickly approaching 300 career digs in her time at Arkansas Tech. She enters the weekend with 284 digs and a chance to hit the 300 mark in Tech's opening game of the weekend against Rockhurst University.
