RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech made a season-high 13 3-pointers, led by
Hannah Villines who scored 24 points and went 6-for-7 from behind the arc helping the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (9-12, 6-9 Great American Conference) cruise past Ouachita (6-15, 4-11 GAC) 88-64 on Thursday night at Tucker Coliseum.

- The Golden Suns will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9, traveling to Magnolia, Ark. to face off against Southern Arkansas. A 5:30 p.m. tip-off is scheduled.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ouachita jumped out to an early 8-3 lead after a little over three minutes of play.
- Tech answered by scoring seven points over the next minute and a half, highlighted by an old fashioned 3-point play from Jayana Sanders to put the score at 12-10.
- The Lady Tigers pushed ahead again, claiming a seven point advantage (19-12) with four minutes remaining in the opening quarter.
- The Suns closed out the first period on an 8-4 run, as 3-pointers from Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse and Leighton Taylor trimmed the deficit to 23-20 going into the second quarter.
- OUA stayed in control in the beginning of the second quarter, holding a five point lead (31-26) at the 6:15 minute mark.
- Jacie Higgins helped Tech take its first lead of the game as a fast break jumper gave the Suns a 36-35 advantage with 2:10 left in the half.
- Back-to-Back 3-pointers from Villines and Sanders gave Tech a 42-39 lead, however an OUA 3-pointer at the end of the half tied the game at 42-42 going into the break.
- Neither team scored in the first two minutes of the third quarter. Villines broke the scoring drought for Tech, connecting from 3-point range to give Tech a 45-42 lead.
- Both teams traded baskets over the next 3:30, with Tech holding a 49-46 advantage with 4:29 left to play in the quarter.
- The Golden Suns held Ouachita to one point for the remainder of the quarter, as back-to-back corner 3-pointers from Villines sparked a 17-1 run, giving Tech a 66-47 lead at the end of the quarter.
- Tech pushed its lead to 20 points after a Sanders layup (70-20).
- The Lady Tigers used a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 14 (70-56) with 6:39 remaining in regulation.
- Tech stretched its lead back to 20 (79-59) after Villines drained another corner 3-pointer, her sixth of the game.
- The Golden Suns went on to close the game out on a 9-2 run, ceiling the win for Tech.

- Alcia Mardis grabbed a season-high eight rebounds, followed by Lyrik Williams with seven boards.
