GOLDEN SUNS TOP MULERIDERS

MAGNOLIA, Ark.Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse poured in 20 points and Brenda da Silva grabbed 16 rebounds as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (6-2, 3-1 Great American Conference) defeated the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (6-2, 2-2) in Magnolia, 92-80.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A jumper from Lycia Peevy put the Golden Suns on the board (2-2) with 8:26 left in the first quarter.
  • Free throws from da Silva gave Tech the lead (19-18) at the end of the first.
  • Tech controlled the second quarter, scoring 31 points and holding SAU to just 12 in the second quarter.
  • A jumper from Jayana Sanders kept the Golden Suns up by 20 with 1:42 left in the third.
  • The Muleriders pulled within 10 (86-76) with 2:48 left in the fourth.
  • Another jumper from Peevy put the Golden Suns up 92-80.
 
NOTABLES
  • The Golden Suns outshot the Muleriders 52 percent to 40 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the arc to SAU's 26 percent.
  • Tech maintained a lead for 35 minutes of the game and only trailed in the first quarter.
  • Sanders added 18 points and dished out six assists and Kaley Shipman shot 6-10 for 17 points.
