RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Dillon Gooding scored 22 points in his Arkansas Tech debut, while both Ramses Sandifer and R.J. Glasper turned in 15-point performances, but the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (0-1) was unable to overcome the consistent offensive attack of Fort Hays State (1-0), falling 88-78 to the Tigers on Friday night at Tucker Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• After the Wonder Boys opened scoring with a 3-pointer by Tony Hall, Fort Hays jumped on the board and claimed a 6-3 lead on a 3-pointer by Aaron Nicholson with 17:36 to play in the opening half. 
• Tech tied the game at 6-6 with 17:10 to play on the subsequent possession, but FHSU outscored the Wonder Boys 21-2 over the next nine minutes to claim a 19-point (27-8) lead with 8:07 to play in the half. 
• The Wonder Boys pulled to within 10 (37-27) on a pair of free throws by Glasper with 2:10 remaining in the half, but the Tigers stretched the advantage again and took a 44-31 lead into the half. 
• FHSU pulled ahead by 25 (61-36) with 12:52 remaining, but the Wonder Boys rallied, cutting the deficit to within nine points (79-70) with 2:02 to play.
• The Wonder Boys were able to pull to within six points (84-78) with 21 seconds to play, but FHSU took advantage of forced fouls to stretch the lead out to 10 in the final seconds.

• FHSU held a 26-9 advantage in points off turnovers, a 48-26 advantage in paint points, and a 19-16 edge in second-chance points. 
• The Wonder Boys held a 32-23 advantage in bench points and a 15-13 advantage in fast-break points.
