GOLDEN SUNS HEAD TO OKLAHOMA
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Golden Suns volleyball team travels to Oklahoma this weekend for the first time this season, taking on Southeastern Oklahoma and East Central. The Golden Suns will face the Savage Storm of Southeastern on Friday at 5 p.m. in Durant, before a noon match on Saturday against the Tigers in Ada. Arkansas Tech (11-6, 4-1 Great American Conference) is coming off its first conference loss last Thursday after winning its previous 11 matches.
Greer Rogers is second in the nation and first in the conference with 1.56 blocks per set.
Allie Anderson leads the team with 3.23 points per set. The Golden Suns rank second in the conference, holding their opponents to .154 hitting percentage.
Madison Grantham leads the defense with 4.02 digs/set.
Southeastern Oklahoma (1-13, 0-5 GAC) has suffered losses in its previous nine matches, after the Storm defeated Cameron University on Sept. 21. The Storm rank 11th in the conference in hitting percentage and kills, but Southeastern is currently fifth in the GAC with 1.34 aces per set. Libero Caitlin Cosby ranks second in the conference with 5.15 digs per set.
East Central (2-16, 1-4) won its first conference match last week against Southeastern Oklahoma. The Tigers are led offensively by Kaitlyn Coffey with 2.48 points per set and setter Sydney Dungen 7.19 assists/set. Defensively, Kasey Beeler averages 4.05 digs per set.
Arkansas Tech leads the all-times series against Southeastern 14-2 and 18-1 against East Central. The Golden Suns won both meetings last season.
