ADLER AND BROWN POWER TECH PAST EAST CENTRAL

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.Will Adler and Alex Brown went 19-for-30 from the floor to combine for 48 points and 14 rebounds, helping Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (7-12, 5-8 Great American Conference) turned in a 92-80 win over East Central (11-7, 8-5 GAC) on Thursday night at Tucker Coliseum.

  • The Wonder Boys will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 2, hosting Southeastern Oklahoma State at Tucker Coliseum. A 3 p.m. tip-off is scheduled. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • East Central seized the momentum early, opening up a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game. 
  • A 9-0 Tech run, highlighted by buckets from four different Wonder Boys gave Tech the advantage (9-5) with 17:33 remaining in the first half.
  • Both teams struggled to create any separation over the next nine minutes as that span featured seven lead changes and five ties. ECU led 34-30 at the 7:56 minute mark.
  • The Tigers stretched their lead to five (44-39) after Matt Garriga hit a 3-pointer.
  • The Wonder Boys closed out the half on a 9-1 run and regained the lead at 48-45 after Mason Cline drilled a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left in the half.
  • Coming out of the half, Tech opened with an 8-2 run, capped by back-to-back 3-pointers from Adler and Brown to give Tech a nine point advantage (56-47).
  • ECU trimmed the deficit to five points (60-55) at the 15:09 minute mark.
  • Tech was able to keep ECU at arm's length as an 11-2 run gave the Wonder Boys a 14 point advantage (71-57) with just over ten minutes to play.
  • Tech saw its lead grow to as many as 20 points (85-65), after R.J. Glasper hit a jumper in the paint.
  • ECU connected on seven of their final eight field goals, ending on a 15-7 run to cut the final margin to 92-80.
NOTABLES
  • Will Adler scored a game-high 25 points, connecting on 7-of-11 3-pointers and grabbing six rebounds.
  • Alex Brown added 23 points after going 11-for-18 from the field. Brown also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. 
  • Mason Cline added 14 points after going 4-for-6 from behind the arc.
  • Tech held a 37-33 rebounding advantage. 
  • Both teams shot the ball well as Tech shot a season-high 53.8 percent while ECU shot 50.7 percent from the floor.
  • ECU held a 52-28 advantage in points in the paint, while the Tech went 15-for-30 from behind the 3-point line, with six different Wonder Boys hitting a 3-pointer.
