RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Tech women's tennis travels to Shawnee, Okla. on Monday for a Great American Conference dual against the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison. The match is scheduled to begin with doubles play at 2 p.m.
Arkansas Tech is 0-2 all-time against Oklahoma Baptist, including a 7-2 loss in Russellville in 2017. The Golden Suns are currently the only team in the GAC with two conference victories, while Harding, Henderson State and Oklahoma Baptist each are 1-0.Â
Arkansas Tech (9-3, 2-0 GAC) has won its previous two duals, including a 9-0 conference victory over Ouachita last Wednesday. The Suns are 4-1 in away matches this spring, with the only defeat coming against No. 2 West Florida.Â
Annabel Rowlands and Teresa Sanchez are 4-2 as a doubles team this spring, having won their previous three matches. Katie Harris and Julia Schoch have posted a 4-1 record in doubles play, while Katharina Drebka and Kami Ward have combined for a 3-2 record at the No. 1 doubles position. All three doubles teams are a combined 6-0 in conference play.Â
Drebka is 5-5 this spring at the No. 1 singles position, and 1-1 in GAC action. Rowlands, Sanchez, Schoch and Megan Bell each have seven singles wins this spring, followed by Ward with six.Â
Oklahoma Baptist (7-4, 1-0 GAC) is currently ranked 37th in the latest Oracle/ITA Division II Rankings. The Lady Bison are coming off a 9-0 victory over Seward County Community College on Saturday, and OBU defeated Southern Nazarene, 9-0, earlier this season for its lone conference victory. Kim Moosbacher is ranked 31st in the Division II singles rankings, while the duo of Moosbacher and Kateryna Shkot are 41st in the Division II doubles rankings.Â
