RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Tech women's tennis is scheduled to host Harding on Thursday, April 12, for a Great American Conference dual at Chartwells Women's Sports Complex. The matches are set to begin with doubles play at 2 p.m.
Arkansas Tech will also host "Pack the Courts" day during the match. Students in attendance will receive free tank tops while supplies last.
Harding leads the all-time women's tennis series against Arkansas Tech, 36-9. The Lady Bisons have won the previous three duals, including a 5-3 victory over the Golden Suns in the 2017 GAC semifinals.
Arkansas Tech (9-5, 2-2 GAC) is coming off a 5-4 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma on Sunday. The Golden Suns currently sit fourth in the GAC standings and, Tech is ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Division II Central Region rankings.Â
The duo of Annabel Rowlands and Kami Ward have posted a 5-2 record this spring. The duo of Katharina Drebka and Julia Schoch, as well as Megan Bell and Teresa Sanchez, are coming off doubles victories in Tech's meeting with Southeastern on Sunday. Annabel Rowlands leads Tech with eight singles victories this spring, while four Golden Suns have recorded seven wins in singles play.Â
Harding (14-5, 3-1 GAC) is currently tied with Southeastern for second in the GAC standings. The Lady Bisons have won three of four previous matches, including a 5-4 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Tuesday.Â
Arisa Takanashi leads Harding with a 15-2 singles record this spring, including a 6-2 record in No. 1 singles. Takanashi and Laura Golubic has combined for a 14-4 record in doubles play, while Gabriella Alves and Hana Folse are 11-7 at the No. 2 doubles position.Â
