RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Tech women's tennis will travel to Arkadelphia on Tuesday for a non-conference dual against Ouachita at the Kim and Craig Ward Tennis Center. The matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Arkansas Tech is 23-15 all-time against Ouachita, having won the previous 20 duals. The Suns have not lost to the Tigers since 2007, and Tech has won 157 of 167 individual matches against Ouachita over the last decade.
The Golden Suns are coming off a week in Pensacola, Fla., where Tech suffered losses to No. 34 West Alabama and No. 2 West Florida. The losses snapped a five-match win streak for the Suns, including a 7-2 win over Southern Nazarene for Arkansas Tech's first Great American Conference win of the season.
Julia Schoch leads the Suns with six singles victories this spring, while Annabel Rowlands, Teresa Sanchez and Kami Ward have each won nine singles matches in the fall and spring combined. Katharina Drebka has played the No. 1 singles match in all nine duals this spring, posting a 4-5 record.
In doubles play, Rowlands and Sanchez are coming off an 8-3 win in the No. 2 doubles match last week against West Florida, the duo's second win of the spring. Drebka and Ward are 2-2 in their last four doubles matches, and Schoch and Katie Harris have combined to win four of their last five contests.
In this season's previous match between Tech and Ouachita, the Golden Suns earned a 9-0 victory, surrendering only 12 of 96 games. Rowlands and Ward combined for a 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles, while Harris and Alejandra Sanchez took an 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles. All six singles matches ended in straight sets, with Ward, Rowlands and Megan Bell each winning 6-0; 6-0.
