BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – A 27-point, seven-rebound effort by
Alex Brown and a 24-point, six-assist, four-rebound effort by RJ Glasper was not enough to overcome hot shooting by Southeastern Oklahoma and an early deficit, as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (18-11) dropped an 85-83 decision to Southeastern Oklahoma (15-13) in the opening round of the Great American Conference championship tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams started slowly, opening with a 4-4 tie four minutes into the game.
- The Savage Storm took control after the first media timeout of the first half, opening a double-digit (20-9) advantage with 10:55 remaining in the opening half.
- Southeastern pulled ahead by as many as 16 (35-19) with 5:36 remaining in the half.
- The Wonder Boys were able to cut the Tech lead to single digits, pulling to within nine (42-33) at the break after a long 3-pointer by Glasper at the buzzer.
- Tech controlled the opening minutes of the half, using a 10-2 run to pull to within one (44-43) with 17:39 remaining in the game.
- Again, Southeastern pushed its lead back out, scoring the next eight points of the game to claim a nine-point (52-43) advantage.
- Tech closed the gap to two (58-56) on a long 3-pointer by Mason Cline with 10:13 to play, but Southeastern responded and again pushed its lead into double digits, going ahead by 12 (76-64) on a pair of free throws with 4:28 remaining.
- Tech charged back, cutting the Savage Storm lead to two (78-76) with 1:56 to play after a layup by Glasper, but the Wonder Boys could not close the gap further.

- Southeastern outshot Tech 52.8 to 40.8 percent, converting on 20-of-26 trips to the charity stripe.
- Southeastern held a 40-34 advantage in rebounds, while Tech forced 16 Savage Storm turnovers while committing just nine.
- Tech held a 29-14 advantage in second-chance points and a 36-26 advantage in points in the paint.
