RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech women's tennis is scheduled for a non-conference dual against Northwest Missouri on Sunday, and due to the threat of inclement weather, the match will be played in Arkadelphia at the indoor Ward Tennis Center on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Arkansas Tech and Northwest Missouri have met on the tennis courts in each of the past four years, with the Golden Suns win three of the last four. The Bearcats defeated Tech, 6-3, in last year's meeting, however.
Arkansas Tech (6-1, 1-0 GAC) has won four consecutive matches, including a 7-2 win over SNU in the Suns' opening dual of the Great American Conference season.
Megan Bell and
Julia Schoch lead Tech in singles play, each holding a 6-1 record this spring. In doubles action,
Annabel Rowlands and
Kami Ward are 4-1 this spring and 7-3 in their last 10 doubles matches.
Northwest Missouri (4-5) has won three consecutive matches, including an 8-1 win over Ouachita on Friday. The Bearcats are scheduled to take on Harding on Saturday before meeting the Golden Suns on Sunday. Northwest Missouri was ranked eighth in Jan. 17's Oracle/ITA Division II Central Region Rankings.
