RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Tech softball will play in Russellville for the first time this season on Sunday and Monday, as the Golden Suns host Henderson State for a four-game series. The Great American Conference series will begin with a doubleheader on Sunday at 4 p.m., followed by a noon doubleheader on Monday.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN SUNS
Arkansas Tech (15-5, 6-2 GAC) enters the series after splitting four games with Ouachita last weekend. The Suns dropped both games of the opening doubleheader, but outscored the Tigers, 10-4, in the final two games to even the series. Tech currently sits in a tie with Harding for third in the GAC standings.Â
The Golden Suns are batting .336 as a team this season, second-best mark in the conference. Tech leads the GAC in hits and ranks second in runs scored, runs batted in, slugging percentage, doubles and triples. Sydnie Henson leads the Suns with a .407 batting average, eight-best in the GAC. Eight of Tech's nine primary starters have batted in at least 10 runs, with Sarah Coronado leading Tech with 17 RBI.Â
On defense, Arkansas Tech ranks fifth in the GAC with a 3.09 earned-run average. Megan Goodnight ranks second in the conference with a 0.55 ERA in 25.2 innings pitched. Kristen Dempsey has pitched a team-high 42.1 innings this season, resulting in a 3-1 record an 3.47 earned-run average. Bailey Shaffer leads Tech with five wins in the circle this season.Â
SCOUTING THE REDDIESÂ
Henderson State (13-6, 5-3 GAC) sits one game behind Arkansas Tech for fifth place in the GAC standings. The Reddies opened last weekend's series against Harding with consecutive wins, but HSU lost the final two games to split the series.
The Reddies rank third in the conference with a .323 team batting average, as seven of nine primary starters are hitting above .300. Bethany Allen leads HSU with 25 hits, while Madie Green has hit three home runs and batted in a team-high 19 runs.Â
HSU is fourth in the conference with a 3.03 earned-run average this season, led by Sydney Bonner's 2.92 ERA in 37.0 innings. Michelle Sorenson has pitched a team-high 49.2 innings, and he ranks second in the conference with a .196 opponent batting average.Â
