RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After defeating John Brown (2-2) 9-0 on Feb. 12, the Arkansas Tech women's tennis team (1-0) looks to extend its win streak as they travel to Edmond, Okla. to take on Dallas Baptist (5-1) and Central Oklahoma (2-1) in non-conference matches on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Broncho Courts.
In their last match against the Golden Eagles, the Golden Suns started out strong in doubles play as Kathrina Drebka and
Teresa Sanchez won the No. 1 doubles match 8-1. The doubles pairing of
Kami Ward and
Annabel Rowlands posted a strong showing, winning No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Alejandra Sanchez and
Katie Harris earned an 8-3 win in No. 3 doubles, their six win as a doubles pair this season. Drebka, Ward, T. Sanchez, and
Megan Bell each picked up wins in singles play, winning in straight sets.
Julia Schoch picked up a win as well, defeating Clare Holden 6-2, 6-0. Harris also picked up a win, defeating Claire Griffin 6-0, 6-1.
Doubles play is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday followed by singles play.
