GOLDEN SUNS SET TO PLAY COTTON BLOSSOMS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns continue play in the Great American Conference this weekend, as Tech travels to Arkansas-Monticello. The Suns take on the Cotton Blossoms in Monticello at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Tech leads the all-time series against Monticello, 64-24, including a current 21-game winning-streak against the Cotton Blossoms. The Suns are 35-6 at home, 21-18 on the road and 6-0 on neutral sites against UAM.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN SUNS
Arkansas Tech (3-3, 1-1 GAC) has won three of its last four games but will look to rebound after dropping a 70-62 contest to Henderson State on Dec. 1.
 
The Suns are ranked second in the conference in scoring offense (79.0 ppg), 3-point field goal percentage (35.8 %) and scoring margin (+17.2) as Tech is one of just two schools in the conference to have four players averaging double figures, led by Jacie Higgins with 12.2 points per game.  Hannah Villines (11.2 ppg), Jayana Sanders (10.3 ppg) and Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse (10.0 ppg) fall in behind Higgins. The Golden Suns also find themselves ranked second in the GAC in rebounding offense (44.3 rpg) and rebounding margin (+7.8), paced by Lyrik Williams' 6.8 rebounds per game, as well as Ryan Goodsell's 5.8 rebounds per game. Williams is also ranked second in the GAC in offensive rebounding, averaging 3.7 offensive rebounds per game.
 
SCOUTING THE COTTON BLOSSOMS
After dropping its first five games, Arkansas-Monticello (1-5, 0-2 GAC) finally found the win column with a 91-41 win over Southeastern Baptist College on Tuesday Dec. 4.
 
Mackenzie Johnson paces the UAM offense with 19.3 points per game, which ranks as the fourth best in the GAC. Johnson leads the league in field goal percentage, shooting 69.6 percent from the field. Chari Swift is the only other Cotton Blossom averaging double-figures with 13.8 points per game. Swift also leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per game. UAM has done a good job this season forcing turnovers as its 12.8 steals per game ranks third in the GAC. The Cotton Blossoms also rank fourth in the league in turnover margin (+4.40).
