VILLINES LEADS TECH PAST LANE

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Hannah Villines turned in a monster 23-point, 10-rebound double-double performance as she led the Arkansas Tech women's basketball team (5-4, 2-2 Great American Conference) to an 81-57 win over Lane College on Sunday afternoon at Tucker Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Arkansas Tech opened the game on a 7-0 run, and later pushed its lead to 13-2 at the 4:16 minute mark after Jacie Higgins hit a pair of free throws.
  • Lane scored eight of the next 12 points to trim the deficit to 17-10 with 1:27 remaining in the opening quarter.
  • Tech scored the final four points of the quarter to take a 21-10 lead into the second quarter.
  • Neither team scored in the first two and a half minutes of the second quarter, until the Dragons put together a 9-5 run to cut the Tech advantage to seven (26-19) with 5:57 to play in the first half.
  • The Golden Suns outscored Lane 14-11 in the remaining five minutes of the first half to take a 40-30 into the break.
  • Lane narrowed the Tech lead to 45-37 with 7:01 remaining in the third quarter, but Tech was quick to respond, stretching its lead to 15 points (52-37) at the 5:08 minute mark.
  • Lane cut the lead to ten (52-42), however the Suns were able to keep the Dragons at arm's length, taking a 61-47 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Ryann Goodsell went 2-for-2 from the free throw line with 5:27 to play to push Tech's lead to 21 (69-48) for the first time.
  • The Golden Suns' outscored lane 20-10 in the fourth quarter, sealing an 81-57 win.
NOTABLES
  • The Golden Suns outshot Lane 40.0 to 31.7 percent, including outshooting Lane 40.7 to 29.7 percent in the first half.
  • Tech outrebounded Lane 54-30, holding a 14-8 advantage on the offensive glass. Tech's 54 rebounds is a season-high.
  • Tech forced 13 Lane turnovers with seven steals, led by Hannah Villine's three.
  • Villines led all scorers with her career-high 23 points. Villines also added a game-high ten rebounds on her way to recording her first double-double as a Golden Sun.
  • Joining Villines in double figures were Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse with 16 points and Higgins with 12 points. Higgins also added eight rebounds.
  • The Suns also went 31-for-41 from the free throw line, while Lane went 10-for-17.
  • Tech held a 28-18 advantage in points in the paint.
  • Both teams scored 15 second chance points.
