STACKHOUSE LEADS GOLDEN SUNS PAST HENDRIX

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse turned in a season-high 21-point, five rebound performance, leading a cast of four Arkansas Tech basketball players to reach double figures as the Golden Suns (2-2) rolled to a 90-47 win over Hendrix (2-2) on Tuesday night at Tucker Coliseum.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Suns never trailed in the game as they jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the opening minutes of the game.
  • Tech grabbed a double-digit lead at the 1:43 mark of the opening quarter and led by ten (20-10) at the end of the quarter. 
  • The Golden Suns outscored Hendrix 25-14 in the second quarter and led by 21 (45-24) at the half.
  • Tech doubled up Hendrix in the third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 26-13, while holding Hendrix to 3-of-8 from the floor in the quarter to grab a 34-point advantage (71-37) going into the fourth quarter.
  • The Golden Suns' lead reached 43 points at the 2:45 minute mark after Stackhouse drained a pair of free throws. Neither scored in the remaining two minutes, allowing Tech to claim its second straight win.
 
NOTABLES
  • The Golden Suns finished the game shooting a season-high 50.8 percent from the floor. Hendrix was held to just 32.7 percent on field goals, including a 4-16 shooting from behind the arc.
  • Tech dominated inside as they out-rebounded the Warriors, 47-30 and outscored Hendrix 54-22 inside the paint. Tech also tallied 33 fast break points and 18 second-chance points.
  • Stackhouse's 21 points came on 7-10 field goals and a perfect 6-6 on free-throws.
  • Hannah Villines followed with a season-high 16 points, five boards and three steals. Jayana Sanders and Jacie Higgins finished with double-digit scoring efforts, as well, tallying 15 points and 11 points, respectively.
  • Lyrik Williams led tech with eight rebounds, while Sanders notched a game-high six assists.
 
NEXT UP
  • The Golden Suns will be on the road for their next game, as Tech opens Great American Conference play in Arkadelphia, Ark. with a matchup against Ouachita Baptist on Thursday, Nov. 29. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
