SUNS HOST OKLAHOMA BAPTIST, SNU IN WEEKEND SWING

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team will return to action with a pair of home matches this Friday and Saturday, hosting Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene at Tucker Coliseum.

Friday's match with Oklahoma Baptist is set for a 6 p.m. start, while Saturday's match starts at 2 p.m.

The stretch run of the 2018 Great American Conference volleyball season sees seven teams within three games of one another. Arkansas Tech (13-8, 6-3) sits in a three-way tie with Ouachita and Oklahoma Baptist (13-12, 6-3), while Southern Nazarene (13-12, 5-4) sits just behind. Another three-way tie exists for first place as Henderson State, Southwestern Oklahoma, and Harding all sit at 8-1 in league play.

The Golden Suns are led offensively by the play of Hunter Eshnaur (199 kills, 2.93 kills per set) and Allie Anderson (186 kills, 2.82 kills per set), while Tabitha Spray has returned to action and is averaging 2.67 kills per set. Emily Acker has seen the majority of the setting responsibilities as of late, averaging 8.12 assists per set, while defensively, Meredith Darnell (4.03 digs per set) and Eshnaur (3.41 digs per set) have provided significant spark. Greer Rogers has proven to be more than capable on the front line, averaging just under one block per set. Tech is coming off a 3-2 setback to SWOSU in Weatherford, but the Golden Suns enter this home swing having won six of the last eight matches.

Oklahoma Baptist is coming off a pair of sweeps over UAM and Southern Arkansas, but dropped a pair of matches in Arkadelphia the week prior to Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist, while Southern Nazarene also won a pair, last weekend, sweeping SAU before winning over UAM in five sets.
