RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - No. 19 Arkansas Tech hosts Arkansas-Monticello in Tucker Coliseum on Thursday, Sept. 28, as the Golden Suns look for their 18th consecutive victory. The Great American Conference contest is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to bring macaroni and cheese to donate to River Valley Food 4 Kids, as part of Tech's Fight On Against Childhood Hunger campaign. Donations will be collected in the north entrance tunnel of Tucker Coliseum.Â
Arkansas Tech (17-0, 4-0 GAC) has started the season with 17 straight wins for the first time in program history. The Golden Suns enter Thursday's match after defeating Henderson State, 3-0, in Arkadelphia on Tuesday. Tech hit .451 as a team, marking the first time the Suns have hit over .400 in a conference match in over a decade.Â
Tech has won all four GAC matches this season in straight sets. The Golden Suns have dropped only five out of 56 sets, and Arkansas Tech has yet to lose a third set this season. The Golden Suns currently lead Division II in wins and kills, while Tech ranks third in the nation with a .303 hitting percentage.
Arkansas-Monticello (6-9, 1-3 GAC) is coming off a five-set win over Southern Arkansas on Tuesday, snapping a three-match losing streak. The Cotton Blossoms have dropped GAC contests to Ouachita, Henderson State and Harding by a combined set-score of 9-1. UAM ranks fourth in the GAC in service aces and fifth in digs.
